Swedish filmmaking is known for its bleak landscapes and slow pacing. There are many great film directors such as Roy Anderson, who directed many movies such as A Swedish Love Story and Songs from the Second Floor. Bo Widerberg has made many hit movies including Ravens End (1963) and Joe Hill (1971). In 1963, The Swedish Film Institute was created which organizes the annual Guldbagge Awards. The Swedish Film Institute supports Swedish Filmmaking and advertising by giving grants to local directors and producers. In Sweden, they have a big film production facility called Trollywood. Trollywood is like MGM Studios or 20th Century Fox in America. They have made great movies such as Dancer in the Dark and Dogville. In the 1920’s -1980’s actors and directors such as Ingmar Bergman, Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman became very famous in the cinema. Over the years, the Swedish film industry has grown to become very famous and notorious.
